The Week Ahead for South Florida August

Dubois Park in Jupiter, FL
Dubois Park in Jupiter, FL
Dubois Park in Jupiter, Florida

Summer is winding down!  I don’t know about you, but it feels like it has gone much too quickly!  Hey don’t despair, there is still time to take the family out for the day!

My suggestion this week is Dubois Park in Jupiter!  It is this amazing little inlet where the water is never very deep.  It is the perfect place to float and enjoy the last few days of summer!

If you missed them before here is the list of great deals that are available this summer. Some of the passes for South Florida Museums and such are amazing, not to mention free bowling, movies and library programs!
Teach Me 1st Grade Mastery Levels.
I have been trying to keep my kiddo on target by encouraging some educational Apps like the Teach Me Apps, and Gus on the Go.

Daggerwing Nature Center

Patch Reef Park Winter FairOkay, I had to type and retype that headline 3 times! 2015! Happy New Year! I wanted to take a moment to thank you all for reading the site.  I hope you and families have a fabulous new year in 2015!

We have been very busy, you know the usual, the beach and the pool.  Not our typical January, but I won’t complain with our friends up North freezing!  Although I will admit I did complain a few nights ago when our AC quit and it was 85 degrees in the condo!

We went to Patch Reef Park for the Winter Fair over the break, it was a good time (crazy hot though).

I am looking forward to the cooler weather that is supposed to come in tomorrow!  Grab Daggerwing Nature Centerthe chance to take the kids a little hike!  Need some tips for hiking with the Family?  Check out 5 Tips for Hiking with Kids or 5 Tips for Birding with Kids!  We love Check out one of Boca’s best secret hiking trail (Yamato Scrub Natural Area)!  I also love Pondhawk Nature Center, it has stroller friendly paths and is near the playground.  I almost forgot to tell you, we went to Daggerwing Nature Center as well. It was really nice, loads of playground, a nice small interactive education center, and of course playgrounds!

The Week Ahead for South Florida 3/20/14

Music for Munchkins

I hope you are all enjoying Spring Break as much as we are. (If you are lucky enough to have had it yet.)  We are still spending as much time outside as possible.  I know my friends up north are going to “unfriend” me if I keep going on about how nice it has been the last couple of weeks, but I figure we endure all the summer heat for this little bit of perfect weather we may as well shout about it!Seriously Ugly Home Grown Carrots

Our adventure in gardening took a strange turn this week.  It seems that our carrots were replaced with aliens!  I have scoured the internet for an ugly carrot contest, but to no avail.  We had a pretty good laugh over these.

I also thought I would share this petition.  I don’t normally place things like this on my site, however there has been quite an uproar over the policy change in Broward County.  Students with lice are now allowed to attend class instead of being banned until they are nit free.  Here is a link to a petition to reverse the policy if you are interested.  We all know that lice don’t actually do any horrible damage, but they sure are a pain (and expensive) to get rid of.

Ars Flores Symphony Orchestra Music for MunckinsMy pick for the week is the Music for Munchkins program offered in both Miami and Broward.  These are free kids orchestral performances where the kids are free to wiggle and giggle and learn about music.  We love this program, and my daughter enjoys it every time.  Click here for a quick review and picture of Music for Munchkins.  Our favorite was when they did parts of Peter and The Wolf.  This is an amazing educational, cultural opportunity tailor made for families!

We managed to get another review up for our series The Big Toy Box Review.  If you have a child you think might like the My Little Pony Train Set, take a moment to watch the video review.

Here is your quick list for the week,
