Hi everyone! There are tons of things going on around town this weekend! So, get your hurricane shopping done today and enjoy the weekend!
If you haven’t done your hurricane shopping yet, here are a few of things we learned in the infamous 2004 – 05 hurricane season! Things I Wish I Knew Before My First (4) Hurricane(s). Hopefully TS Hurricane Erika is going to fall apart, but just in case lets all be prepared.

We haven’t got much to report this week, it seems we have been very boring! We have had an exciting mystery solved though! When we got our community garden plot there was a mystery bulb in it. We needed the room for our attempt at vegetables so we brought it home and planted it. I had no idea what it was until it started to bloom and it is an amazing Amaryllis plant!
Other than that, I have been busy this week finding many, many new activities to fill up our time! Looks like some of the summer stuff is coming out! There a quite a few Egg Hunts, Spring Flings & Easter Activities going on around town. If you know of one that I have missed please send it my way!
We have 5 days left on our Palm Beach Zoo Ticket Give Away!
I wanted to repost a beach safety article this week. It is full on season here now and the tourists are hitting the beach and us along with them! We have the most beautiful beaches in South Florida and the threat of rip currents are difficult to image in the face of such serene beauty! Please remind your guests from up north how serious rip currents can be and check out5 Tips for Beach Safety.
I hope everyone is recovering well from the Holidays! I thought that if I ran everyday over the Holidays that I could eat whatever I wanted. Well, I hate to tell you, but it’s not true, so I am trying to undo the damage now! I suppose it would have been worse had I not run, but I was still a bummed out when I weighed in!
Last weekend we went to the Winter Carnival at Patch Reef Park in Boca! What a great day! We had a nice visit with a good friend and really enjoyed the park. Watch our calendar for it next year, I have definitely spent more for less. My daughter rode rides with her $15.00 arm band until she said her stomach hurt. Now that is what I call a true carnival. The rides were all for kids, just big enough to thrill them, but small enough that my 5 (almost 6) year old rode them by herself or with friends.
This park is one of my favorites for sure, even without the carnival. It has trails, an amazing playground and a splash pad! You can read more about the park itself on my review of the Best Local Playgrounds – Patch Reef Park. If you are looking for more great parks check out the Best Playgrounds under the Events and Review Tab!
I can’t believe next week is Thanksgiving! This is the first year in a long time that I am not cooking so I am trying to enjoy that fact, although driving to Ohio may prove to be as hard as making dinner! I suppose I should start making a list to pack! Naaaa. 🙂
I forgot to get a picture of our little garden this week, I was so blown away by how big it is! I will try to pop a picture on the Facebook Page at some point in the next week.
If you are enjoying the cooler weather then I would suggest heading out to visit our sponsor Flamingo Gardens for the Growl Prowl and the Growl Prowl Full Moon Tour! What could be more fun than Teddy Bear Picnic and Parade on the Wray lawn. Scavenger hunt, story time, games, & more.
If you are not into the cooler weather, or you have a little Florida Baby like mine who thinks it’s cold outside, then a great choice is to send your significant other with the kids to The Schoolhouse children’s Museum in Boynton Beach. We love this museum, here is our REVIEW with loads of pictures! Please check with them for their Holiday Hours.
Please take a moment to read 5 Tips for Hitting the Beach with Kids. Every Holiday we South Floridians hit the Beach alongside our visitors from up north, and every Holiday it seems there is a sad report of someone dying in a rip current. The winds are strong right now and the beach is rough, please feel free to share this information with friends and family and learn what to do if you are caught in a rip current.
When you go to our Upcoming Events Page you can search by date, category, free sponsor event or county. I hope you have a fabulous week!
In less than a month school will be starting, and experts say that kids forget an entire months worth of academics over the summer. We tried Kaplan Kids to help bring us up to speed. Check our review of Kaplan Kids here.
The Week Ahead for 6/27/13 includes the 4th of July Holiday!
Our pick of the week for the 4th is to head on over to visit Flamingo Gardens for The Old Fashioned Fourth where can you wander the gardens, have a barbeque lunch and visit with the animals during the day for half price admission. Then head on down to the beach in your town and watch the fireworks! What a great day!
